DIY Triangle and Hearts Necklace

If I had to pick my favorite shape, it would be the triangle.

Why? It's the most stable shape. They don't deform easily since the angles are held constant. In fact, they are used extensively in the construction of bridges and buildings. Or in my case, my sixth grade toothpick bridge.

And so today, we pay homage to this simple yet durable shape.

As for the heart, well, I really liked the bead.

Materials Needed:
  • 3 headpins with a loop at the end or 20 gauge wire
  • 3 small jump rings
  • Chain
  • Clasp
  • One bead
  • Pliers
The hardest part of this necklace is making the triangle. Other than that, this a fairly easy DIY

  • Begin by creating a second loop with your pliers at the end of each headpin. If you are starting with wire, you have a couple of extra steps. You will need to cut three pieces of wire of equal length and then make a loop at each end.

  • If you want, you could actually start attaching the headpins to each other as you made the loops. I ended up making all of the loops first. I then attached the headpins together into a triangle by opening the loops. You should get something like this.

  • Flatten the triangle to the best of your ability. Then add the three jump rings to each angle. Attach two of the jump rings to your chain and the other jump ring to your bead.

  • It should look something like this.

  • The last step is to attach the clasp and there you have it! A simple and strong necklace!
Enjoy!
