DIY: Tassel Earrings

It's been awhile since I have posted an earring DIY and I wanted to share these playful and vibrant tassel earrings I made today. Mixing different materials always yields far more exciting results and I have always loved tassels made with embroidery thread.

These are definitely statement earrings so play around with different colors and lengths!

For this DIY, you will need:

  • Embroidery Thread
  • Pliers
  • Eyepins or wire
  • A small piece of cardboard
  • Jump rings
  • Pliers
  • Earring Hooks (which I completely forgot to put into the picture)
1.

Begin by cutting out the piece of cardboard, The length of the cardboard will determine the length of your tassel. Mine was about 1.5 inches. Wrap the embroidery thread around the cardboard about 20 to 25 times. Cut off the excess and slide the loop off the cardboard.

2.

Cut off a piece of embroidery thread and make a knot around the loop. Make sure you make two and that they are about the same size and have the same placement of the knot. If you wrapped your embroidery thread more than 20 to 25 times, it might be harder to slide the jump ring on later so it will be easier to slide it through before you make the knot.

3.

Slide the jump ring through the loop in your tassel and attach the eyepin. Slide on the beads of your choice. Cut the wire of the eyepin.

4.

Make a loop at the end of the eyepin and connect it to the earring hoop. Close and you are done!
