DIY: Gray and Gold Swirls Bracelet

I don't like wasting things. These include but are not limited to food, water, and jewelry making supplies.

After a while, bits and ends start piling up. I have been experimenting with wire work and I have accumulated an abundance of twisted wire fragments laying around. Instead of attempting to straighten them or tossing them out, I decided to work with them and not against them.

I have been digging the gold and gray combination for a while so I am incredibly happy with the result.

For this DIY, you will need:

  • Pliers
  • Gray seed beads
  • Jump rings (Optional)
  • .3 mm beading wire
  • 24 gauge gold wire
  • Clasp
  • Crimp beads (not shown)

1.

Begin by making the wire swirls. Cut a piece of fresh or old wire.

2.

Place the pliers at the end of the wire and twist the wire once around the pliers to make a loop. Hold the loop with your pliers and twist the wire around the loop using your fingers. Continue doing so until you have used most of the wire.

3.

Finish the swirl by making a loop at the end of the wire. It's easier to make all of the wire swirls at once.

4.

Before you begin stringing on the beads, there is one last thing you need to do. Either you can keep the swirls as they are and attach jump rings to the loops and string those on. Or, you can string the swirls on directly by twisting the loop with the pliers as shown above.

5.

Cut a portion of wire about 4 inches larger than your wrist size. String on a crimp bead, your jump ring/clasp and fold  two inches of wire over the jump ring and through the crimp bead as shown above. Secure the wire by pressing the crimp bead with your pliers.

String on your beads and wire swirls in the pattern of your liking

Attach your clasp by stringing on a crimp bead, your jump ring/clasp and folding over the last two inches of the wire through the crimp bead and a few of the beads. Secure the bracelet by pressing the crimp bead with the pliers. Cut off any excess wire.

Now you have a unique bracelet that is sure to become a conversation starter!
