DIY Sliding Knot Bracelet

I have been slowly running out of jewelry supplies which means the jewelry I can make is sorely limited...or is it?

Thankfully, if you have the basic string and beads, you are all set. The only problem is the clasps, but thankfully a sliding knot will do the trick!

For this DIY,  you will need:

  • Scissors
  • Hemp
  • Assorted beads
  • Glue (not pictured) - Optional

1.

Cut a piece of hemp about three to four inches larger than your wrist size. String on the beads in a pattern of your liking.

2.

Make sure the beads are centered on the string and secure them by making knots on both ends of the strings as shown above.

3.

Lay the ends of the bracelet side by side. Cut another piece of hemp about five inches long and bring it under the two ends of the bracelet as shown above.

4.

Make a square knot with the smaller piece of hemp around the two ends of the bracelet. If you are unfamiliar with the square knot, you can refer to one of my earlier tutorials here. Continue making square knots until you have made a square knot as shown above. To secure the square knot, make a knot on the back of the square knot and secure it with glue.

 5.

Finish by making knots at the ends of the bracelet to ensure the sliding knot does not fall off. You can also add beads to the ends of the bracelet.

And there you have it. Let your imagination run wild.
