DIY Chain Handpiece

There is a certain simplicity and elegance about chain hand pieces. My friend, Laverne, styled it well with her leather jacket but I think they usually look with everything and for almost every occasion.

They are incredibly versatile to make - you can make it all chain or add beads to the wrist portion - it's entirely up to you! Here is my take on it.

For this DIY, you will need:
  • A ruler
  • Pliers
  • Wire
  • Chain
  • Assorted beads
  • Jump rings
  • Clasps
1.

Begin by making the "centerpiece" of the handpiece. Cut out a small length of wire and make a small loop at the end of it with your pliers. String on one of your beads and close by making another small loop at the end of it with your pliers.

2.

Repeat step 1 two more times for the two other beads. However, remember to link them to each other before closing the loops at the end.

3.

Cut out three pieces of chain. The first piece of chain should be long enough to encircle your middle finger with a little bit of slack. The next piece will be your wrist length. The third piece is the chain for the part that crosses your hand. Measure the length of your centerpiece and subtract it from the length of your hand and cut the piece of chain accordingly.

4.

Finish by connecting all of the pieces together with jump rings and adding your clasps.
