DIY Crystal Necklace

I would like to begin this post by wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

2014 is a chance for a fresh start for this blog and myself. I started this blog in August of 2012 but I hardly posted. Things happened. I got busy. I lost motivation. I was too unsure.

However, I plan to change that. Because I learned something in 2013. I learned the key word for 2014. And that key word is discipline. And that's it. It's not simply motivation. Motivation comes and goes. It's not waiting about the perfect moment. That moment may never come.

It's the tough and gritty discipline and I plan on using that power. So for now, I begin with the plan to post every Friday. I plan to post more quality posts. I plan on expanding this blog to the idea I had initially.

And I hope you guys stay for the ride.

So without wasting any more time, here is the DIY for today!

Crystals have been all the rage lately and this is my take on how to wear it.

For this DIY, you will need:

  • A crystal pendant (or any other pendant of your liking)
  • Different types of beads
  • Two tubes
  • 20 gauge Wire or 2 headpins
  • Jump rings
  • Chain
  • Clasps
  • Pliers
Ignore the top beads. I ended up not using them! Sometimes, some beads just don't work out - it wasn't meant to be. ;)

Begin by cutting two pieces of wire. Mine where about 2 inches/5 centimeters. Make a loop at one of the ends of the wire. Decide on your arrangement of beads. Add on the beads and make another loop at the end of the wire or headpin.

Attach the two wire pieces or headpins together with a jump ring.

Add the crystal pendant to the same jump ring.

Finish by adding the chain to the centerpiece using jump rings. The chain length on one side was about 6 inches/15 centimeters. Don't forget to add your clasps!

And Voila! :)

  1. That is very Nordic realness! I love the color palette, in which you chose the pieces. Of course, the center piece crystal definitely stands out and comes alive to complete the chicness of it all. I love the inspiration. I hope I can replicate the steps you did here myself. Thank you for sharing!

  2. It’s very bohemian – Boho-chic, if you will. It’s simple and metallic, perfect for elevating a simple white blouse or shirt. The blue and green beads make you think of the eccentricity of the older tribal designs, and the metallic tubes added that solid effect - all these complementing the crystal pendant. This is well-put together! Thank you for sharing.
