DIY: Chain and Bead Necklaces

I love wearing these simple necklaces. They provide a small pop of color but still remain simple and versatile. They do, however, require a little bit more planning than other necklaces, so make sure you have a ruler or tape measure handy!

For this DIY, you will need:
  • Beads
  • Wire or eyepins
  • Chain
  • Round-nose pliers/Wire cutters
  • Clasp
  • Tape measure/ruler
1. Start by making your beaded sections. Cut out a piece of wire (or use an eyepin) using your wire cutters, and using round-nosed pliers make a loop at one end. String on your bead and complete the section by making another loop at the end. Make sure that they are roughly the same length or use the same number of beads. For the Red Coral Necklace, each beaded section was about .5 inches long.

2. Next cut out your pieces of chain.

  • For the Red Coral Necklace, you will need 6 pieces of chain that are 2.5 inches long and one piece of chain that is 6 inches long.
  • For the Gold Chain Necklace, you will need 2 pieces of chain that are 2.5 inches long and 2 pieces of chain that are 3.5 inches long
  • For the Turquoise Bead Necklace, you will need 2 pieces of chain that are 2.25 inches long and 2 pieces of chain that are 3.5 inches long
3. Now simply attach your sections of chain, beaded sections, and clasps. For the Red Coral Necklace, since it was so long, I opted not to add a clasp.

And you are done!

  1. I love the ones with the black chain especially! They look beautiful, really unusual.
