DIY: Easy Beginner Earrings

Trying something new today!  This DIY is intended for beginners (though experts are more than welcome!). I know a few people who have expressed the desire to start making jewelry and I always tell them that it's not too hard. In this tutorial, I will do my best to explain the procedure as carefully as I can.
The materials needed for the tutorial are pretty basic. You can walk into Michael's and get a pack that has headpins, eyepins, earring hooks, clasps, and jump rings. You will need pliers and a wire cutter, but those are fairly attainable.

For this DIY, you will need:

To make the blue earring, you will need a headpin, assorted beads, and an earring hook.

1. Begin by stringing the beads of your choice on the headpins

2. You will now need to make a loop at the end of the headpin to attach the earring hook. Cut off some excess wire from the headpin. Leave about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

3. Place the tip of your pliers at the end of the wire and turn the wire towards you, making a loop. Basically, the wire should wrap the end of the tip of the pliers. Don't close the loop.

4. Attach your earring hook and close the loop with your pliers by putting the opening in between the plier "jaws" and press gently.

To make the coin earring, you will need an eye pin, assorted beads, and an earring hook.

1. Open the loop of your eyepin. Most eyepins loops are completely closed

2. Attach the coin or bead of your choice into the loop and close it by putting the opening in between the plier "jaws" and pressing gently.

3. String on the rest of your beads.

4. Cut off the excess wire. Leave 1/2 to 3/4th of an inch

5. Make a loop at the end and add your earring hook as shown (see steps 3 and 4 for the blue headpin earrings above)

And that's it! Wear your handmade earrings with pride!
