Pandas can eat my jewelry.

How shall I begin? Nothing particularly interesting has happened since I last posted. I just have a simple DIY for a  bracelet that has been sitting on the back burner for ages. I was actually going to post this yesterday but my camera was being temperamental. So without wasting any more time, here is the DIY for this lovely bracelet!

For this bracelet you will need:
One headpin with a loop or 20 gauge wire
Assorted beads
5 jump rings
One clasp
Hemp or Bamboo Cord
Pliers
Scissors
Glue (Optional)
Tape (Optional)
One Charm (Optional)

Start by adding your beads onto your headpin and make another loop at the end. The one I used already had a loop on one side. If you have a normal headpin, go ahead and get rid of the "head" and make loops at both sides of the wire. Or you could simply use wire. Add on a jump ring to each of the loops.

Cut out four pieces of your hemp or bamboo cord that are 30 inches long. (Sounds like a lot doesn't it? I feel like I may have used a little bit too much, so you could probably go a little bit shorter. As for the bamboo cord, when I got it I thought it was pretty colored hemp, so I just grabbed it. Turns out bamboo cord is biodegradable! Yeah, environment! But then again, I don't know if I want my jewelry degrading....) (P.S. Aren't you glad you are actually reading all of this? Now the title makes sense!)
Take two of the pieces of cord, thread them through one of the jump rings, fold it in half, and make a knot. You can add some glue to the know for extra security. Repeat on the other side. If that didn't make any sense, here are some pictures.

Tape down the two middle strands, and begin your square knot. If you have never attempted a square knot, I have some pictures for you. Quick warning: my bamboo cords have a tendency to bend making it difficult to see what is going on in the pictures. Begin by making a four as shown below.

Take the right strand, pull it under the two taped down strands and then pull it through the hole the left strand makes. Pull both the left and right strands.

Pull the left and the right strands. This is one stitch.

Now repeat, except in the opposite direction. Now make a four with the right strand and place the left strand over it. Take the left strand, pull it under the two middle strands and through the hole made by the right strand. Pull both of the strands.

I made 21 stitches on both sides of the beads.

Thread a jump ring at the end of each the sides of the bracelet and make a knot. Cut off the excess cord/hemp. You could add a dab of glue on the knot for extra security.

Add a charm to one of the jump rings.

Add the clasp to the other jump ring.

Wear the bracelet by clasping the clasp (I couldn't think of any other way to word it) to the jump ring with the charm and there you have it! A cute bracelet that is partly biodegradable and can be potentially eaten by pandas!
